Background: Great Lakes Fishing and Sporting Alliance (GLFSA) is a new grassroots organization founded in 2010 on a few simple principles like habitat improvements for fish and wildlife and preserving public access for all sportsmen and their families to enjoy the outdoors.
With that goal in mind, GLFSA has decided to sponsor a river clean up outing on the new multi-use area of the Bear River in Petoskey, formally known as the Bear River Valley Recreation Area.
The idea for this clean up came from an “impromptu” clean-up performed by my children and I on this same stretch on the first nice day this spring. While we were out walking and enjoying the area, the kids noticed there was plenty of trash around and found some bags and boxes that they could pick it up in. Here’s a picture of what they carried out (there’s plenty more to be picked up still):
Here are the details, please bring your family and join us if you can!
