Background: Great Lakes Fishing and Sporting Alliance (GLFSA) is a grassroots organization founded in late 2010 on a few simple principles like conservation, habitat improvements and preserving public access for all sportsmen and their families to enjoy the outdoors.
With that goal in mind, GLFSA has decided to help organize a river clean up outing on the Manistee River below Tippy Dam.
The idea for this clean up came from a group of sportsmen who while informally chatting came to the consensus that they should come together and do something nice for this high traffic area. It was done first done in the Fall of 2010, and it’s time to do it again!
Here are the details, please bring your firends and family and join us if you can!
What: River Clean up on the Big Manistee River
When: Saturday, July 14th at 12 Noon
Where: Meet at the Parking Lot on the North side of the Dam, off of Dilling and River Road.
Here’s a map.
Who: GLFSA and MRAA, in partnership with other anglers and thier families from all over the midwest.
Why: The Tippy area of the Manistee river is one of Michigan’s fishing gems that sees more than it’s fair share of use. It’s good to take a pause and tidy up now and again!
